Mandy Cho bashing
What is going on in the MHK discussion forum, some people just like to bash Mandy with the usual phrases...fake this and that, attend a community college... and most of them do not even know her in person. They only see pictures of her on newpapers! For goodness sake, she went to St. Mary's, not an international school, even though she did not return to F.6, St. Mary's is one of the best girls' schools in Hong Kong.

The MHK application form does not mention that going to a community college cannot win the title... Lee San San only finished F.5 and still won at a younger age. Mandy gave a good impression and the judges like her, no matter what we say to make ourselves feel better, we cannot change the result and the new MHK will be out in August.

Personally I don't think she has a fake smile, that's how she smiles, so deal with it and stop whinning.

I agree. While Mandy may not be the perfect winner, she strikes me as the prettiest out of this year's contestants (which doesn't say a lot?).

I wonder if the anti-Mandy sentiment has been compounded by the negative reaction towards a certain MS aka BM on the discussion forum?

i think people attack her based on false assumptions, they read things on other message boards from the people they "claim" know Mandy and everything they say becomes the truth...and the rumor begins. On the other end, one person on the forum praises her like a goddess. It seems there can't be a happy medium where people agree that she is better looking than the MHK winners from the past few years.

I also think that a lot of people in the forum wanted Selena to be the winner, and they hated Mandy guts for winning. To be sure, she's very photogenic, and I was quite surprised that she couldn't make it to the top 5. What surprised me even more is that Priscilla jumped over Carrie and Ivy to end up as the 2nd runner-up. The only reasoning I can come up with is that she got accepted to a Masters program. What do you think?

P.S. Ivy is my preference for Ms. Int'l Goodwill (kind of in the same mode as Christina Lau in 1993).

I was surprised too that Selena was out of the top 5, her performance that night was quite good. One thing I don't like about her is the way she talks, she seems too "casual" when answering questions, not in a very "dai fong" way, maybe the judges didn't like that, or she did poorly in the judges interview, who knows? I think she deserved in the top 5. Rabee'a wasn't all that great that night, not my choice to be Miss HK. Priscilla was all right in my opinion, at least her answers made sense and she was quite calm. Carrie should at least be 1st runner-up, she did an outstanding job that night, I have absolutely NO idea what went wrong in the judging. In terms of looks, Mandy outperformed everyone, in terms of performance, Carrie had it all. As for Miss Int'l Goodwill, it's a tough call, I doubt Mandy's english is that bad, she speaks fluent in Chinese and English whereas Ivy couldn't speak Cantonese that fluently and that hurt her chances. It's all in the hands of the judges, if they like one contestant, the chances are she's going to get the major awards no matter what.
